A Guide to Healthier Hair
A consistent home routine is the key to maintaining soft, healthy hair and long-lasting results. Whether you’re caring for extensions, color, or both, the right products and daily habits make all the difference. This guide begins with our 6-step care ritual, then walks you through the styling, brushing, and sleeping practices we recommend to keep your hair looking polished, healthy, and beautifully maintained between appointments.
Detox—
Start with a clarifying shampoo every 1–2 weeks as your first cleanse to remove buildup and refresh the scalp. Massage for 30–45 seconds to create a gentle lather.
Cleanse—
Follow with a double cleanse using your daily stylist-recommended shampoo to leave the hair feeling clean, balanced, and refreshed.
Repair—
Use a Pre-Wash Treatment at least 10 minutes before shampooing, or apply K18 Repair Treatment to towel-dried hair after cleansing. Comb through with your Gilded wide tooth comb and allow K18 to process for 4 minutes before conditioning. If your stylist recommends it, both may be incorporated into your routine.
Condition—
Apply conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends, then gently distribute with your Gilded comb or detangling brush. Rinse thoroughly for 45–60 seconds
Protect—
Prep the hair with a leave-in conditioner or heat protectant before heat styling to help defend against dryness and damage.
Seal—
Finish with a nourishing oil on the mid-lengths and ends for added softness, shine, and a polished finish.
